Tips For Fall 2012-13 Makeup Trend
The summer is almost over and we are all looking forward to some cool autumnal weather. What better time to start looking into the fall 2012-13 makeup trend and preparing for the new season?
So even if you are lying by the pool or sitting on a beach, here are some fall 2012 makeup trends to look out for and there is something for everyone:
The flawless natural looking skin is still very much in evidence so if you are still not wearing some form of sunscreen, there is still time to make amends.
From super pale to olive or dark, the key is to be smooth, radiant, blemish free and well, perfect. In fact, on some runways, the perfect skin with barely there makeup was enough to send models down the catwalk; so get exfoliating, moisturizing and invest in a good concealer if you need to.
Bold, bold, bold and multi-colored. The almond shape eye was very much in evidence either totally exaggerated or just enough to make a statement. You can go as far out or as wide as you want with your eye liner, the choice is yours.
What updated this look though is the white or iridescent silver eye pencil drawn just on the inner corner of the eyes to make them stand out. Very sci-fi and very effective.
As for color, you can get inspiration from a peacock’s feather, from exotic fauna in the Amazon rainforest to tribal colors all over the world. Bright, bold, and a mash up of different colors such as purple, teal and blue all at the same time – this is the time to go wild and experiment.
Anna Sui had bright colbalt blue on her models whilst Jason Wu had a subtler take on the multi color theme – either way, you can start with orange on the inner corner of your eye to copper in the middle to purple on the outer corner, the choice is yours.
If all these rainbow colors are not your look, take heart as the brown palette is the new black. From light ochre to gold, copper, amber and taupe – this spectrum of brown was seen in shows such as Burberry and Blumarine.
The New Smokey Eye
Yes, the smokey eye is still very much in but with a new updated twist. Precision is no longer in, it’s a more smudgy done-in-the-back-of-a-taxi look. The intensity is focused more along the lash lines which gives room to experiment more with colors such as violet, amber or ink blue on top of the usual black and grey smokey eye look.
Big doll like lashes are here to stay and whether you add layers and layers of mascara to get the look or get help with some faux eye lashes, the key to looking updated this season is color. Stella McCartney had some eye popping multi toned lashes at her show.
Napolean Perdis suggests adding some loose colored powder to clear mascara to achieve a dramatic look instantly.
Brows are still bold and strong. Thick, dark and almost masculine looking, brows are swept up and not afraid to be the focus. Prada went one step further and painted their model’s brows orange, whereas Chanel featured oblong multi color sequined brows in their fall 2012 show.
Statement red lips are back. This time, it’s in the darker shades of mulled wine, dark chocolate and black cherries.
Gucci featured dark wine colored lips stained with chocolate brown while Bottega Veneta went for the dark purple bruise look. Whichever way you want to wear your red lipstick this fall season, you can keep it matt or add gloss for that extra shine.
Adapting to a more realistic look:
These are fall makeup trends spotted on the runway and more often than not, it does not translate well into real everyday life. Take certain elements that will work for you and update your look. It could be a colored eye liner, eye shadow or mascara or a new wine colored lipstick. Perhaps you want to grow your eye brows a little thicker, or add some metallic shimmer to a night out – experiment and take the best of the trends to apply to your own individual look and don’t forget to have fun!
